Who am I?

Music and video has always fascinated me. I would have to make my brain work very hard if I want to remember my first ever encounter with video editing. Back then my days mostly consisted of me browsing the internet, looking for cool videos. When I wasn't at school or with friends, I would sit at home trying to create my own edits by cutting and combining different videos with my favourite music. Come to think of it, I even remember creating mixtapes for my classmates back in elementary school.

Because of this fascination, it didn't take long for me to come into contact with festival aftermovies. I was instantly hooked and started dreaming about doing stuff like that for a living. However, I never thought it would actually happen someday. As I wake everyday to the sound of my PC and camera booting up, it reminds me just how lucky I am to have experienced all of this at such a young age. I would like to thank everyone who has laid their trust in me in these past few years, and gave me the opportunity to develop myself as an artist. I have only just started.

Creative Entrepreneur

Due to my work as a photographer I soon got introduced to entrepreneurship. After my graduation Highschool I got in touch with one of my clients (Novel-T) who introduced me to the beauty of entrepreneurship. not long after I started doing workshops and following classes to become the entrepreneur I loved to be. Soon after I started giving entrepreneurship classes myself and that was basically where my journey as an entrepreneur started.

Creative Student

Graduating 2 years too soon I started my study Game Development and Computer Science in 2015 at Saxion Hogeschool located in Enschede. Aiming for the higher spots within my study I eventually ended up at the University of Twente with a Suma Cum Laude Propedeuse in Computer Science (HBO). During my time at Saxion I got more and more interested in Motion Tracking. The reason why I started Create next to my my study in Computer Science at the University of Twente is basically to end up within Game Technology and Motion Tracking.

Inter-active Video project

During the first module of Creative Technology we
got the assignment to make an interactive video. An
Interactive video is a video in which the person
watching it can choose its outcome.

The shortfilm we made, is a short horror.
The story is about Tiffany and Jeffrey, who both are fanatic
urban explorers. Once they find new location they
decide to make a new episode of their vlog.
However they did not expect things could go this wrong.

As I am a videographer myself I loved this project.
It really triggered me in taking the next step and
make the video even better.

My role in this project was basically directing
the film but also handling the camera. This was the
position I felt home in at most.

Blog

Blog 1: Yes'es and No's at Gogbot 2018

Date: 06-09-2018

During this weekend there was an annual event happening in the city centre of Enschede where students, creators, inventors, etcetera could show their work. I visited this event and below you can read what my thoughts were about two of the installations that I liked most/least. Liked Most: Well, there was one item I thought was amazing, not only because of the look of it but also the idea behind it was this object. I thought it looked really outstanding, it had a specific kind of abstract look which triggered me. It was built very symmetrical while still being very chaotic. Loved it.

Blog 2: The design I would love to have

Date: 10-09-2018

The design I had in mind beforehand was basically a One-Pager with everything included in it; By usage of Bootstrap I managed to create Sections with each it's own function;

To give a general overview of what I was thinking of the following headers:

  • Home //An General introduction, small show-off of what I do, carousel etc
  • About //Details about who I am and what I do
  • Projects //Projects I have worked on/ still working on
  • Portfolio //Pictures I want to show of the projects I have worked on
  • Curriculum Vitae //My experiences within the field
  • Social Media //How to contact me

Blog 3: The progress of the Video Project

Date: 15-09-2018

While thinking of an concept together with Sven for this project, we had one thing in mind; We wanted it to make it amazingly good an deliver the highest quality possible.

Since we are both quickly excited about stuff we went to my home to discuss the idea. After a while we came up with a concept an thus we started filming and editing.

We went on for like 5 à 6 hours straight and finished it in one go.

Blog 4: The first portfolio project

Date: 28-09-2018

My first portfolio project is the company I am running. Before this company was called I AM Photography but since a while we decided that Shotmaniacs was a better name for our concept since we started to have more and more clients thats kept asking for more.

Within this company I specialized myself within photography and videography for mainly events and festivals. But as always I love to keep learning every day so every day I am taking some time to learn something new!

Eventually the hard work payed off and I started traveling the world, not long ago the Tubantia wrote a article about my company which can be found here: ARTICLE

To check out my portfolio you can click here: PORTFOLIO

Blog 5: The Second piece of work within my projects portfolio.

Date: 02-10-2018

The second piece of within my portfolio is about the Hellblade project; Within this project I was an software developer.

As a software developer my task was to create a system that was able to recognize someones face and sketch this face within the game as realistic as possible.

The thing I liked most of this project was that it was exactly an representation of what I would love to do in my future since it was all about motio tracking etcetera.

Blog 6: My personal touch

Date: 02-10-2018

The personal touch I wanted to give to my website was to make it a bit dark and make it joyful to look at; Since the entire website is not a template but fully programmed in Bootstrap, I was able to make it exactly in the way I wanted; This caused me to be in full control of what happened where which made it an representation of my way of thinking.

Blog 7: The Peer review

Date: 17-10-2018

For this weeks assignment I have reviewed the website of Quirine Vafi, The thing I noticed first was that the colorsheet she used was very solid, I loved the color, it really represented a silk feeling. Which is surprisingly how I see Quirine as a person, so I was really stunned by this. One unfortunate thing was that not all links/buttons worked as planned, one of these were the links in her portfolio, however Quirine did mention this quit obvious by putting clear messages within the pages itself.

While noticing there is plenty of JQuery and SCSS code in her website I assume the website is made by a Wordpress theme. However I cannot be sure of this since it was, surprisingly never mentioned in her code

What I have learned from reviewing is that there is a different perspective a user can have compared to the perspective of a developer. Meaning; what seems logical to me as an developer might not always look as logical to the end user. After reviewing Quirine's page I decided to turn myself towards my own page to see what I can improve and what annoys me on my own page.

Blog 9: Module 2

Date: 27-01-2019

During this second module we again had some creative subjects, this time it was Sketching.

Despite the huge amount of work i really did enjoy this subject.
It made me think of how I have to draw and taught me the skills to do this correctly.
See below my final assignment

During the first module we had sessions about our own self-value and about finding our interests and passions within the field and develop these to further extend. Not only we had to find our strengths but also our weaknesses. For me, this weakness was mainly (verbal) communication and presentation. To develop and improve this weakness I have been working on an explicit kind of leadership and management during this module. Unfortunately, I did not, in contrast to last module, get the ability to lead my project group, but instead I tried being active within different fields within and even outside this course.

The Honours programme
At the beginning of the module I got informed about an extra honour track during my studies in which I was able to improve and brighten my knowledge within a different field of study. After visiting some markets, gathering information about this so-called honour track I was offered different fields in which I could specialize. My eyes immediately fell upon a pair of tracks, among them Philosophy and Entrepreneurship. The reason why I particularly was interested in these two tracks was simply because I am an entrepreneur myself.
However, since I know I am not an über-human and everything can be improved I got interested in the entrepreneur-track. At first, I was doubting, not because I did not like the track, but simply because I was afraid that it would not offer me enough to work on. However finding out what I can improve within my own company and/or the way I lead this company really appealed to me, and thus inspired me to get in touch with the professor is charge to check what options I have.
After some meetups with the professor he explained me he would take a day off to plan and build a custom track in which I got the help and activities I needed, but also to help him improve this track for the following years. My second choice was a choice with deeper roots. Thinking about the way of thinking and the way of performing an action has always inspired me. Therefore I wasn’t quite sure whether I wanted to do the Philosophy track or the Entrepreneurial track. After meeting up with some alumni and second-year students I made a list of pros and cons. After some nights of deep thinking I decided to put Philosophy as my second choice.
