Yesterday there was a final module exhibition for module 1. All our posters from visual communication were hanging on the walls and everybody could come by to see our results of our video project and our programming projects and websites. We got very positive response to our video project and our individual projects. Personally, I really liked to see everyone elses projects as well. There were some really good ones. It was a shame though that everything was so chaotic. There was barely room to walk around and to hear everything people had to say. It was also difficult to hear the audio of the video's everyone made.
Today I did a peer review. The name of the person whose website I reviewed is Veerle.
This is a link to her website: Veerle's Portfolio
My first impression of the site was that it had everything according to the assignment accept a way for people to contact.
The design has a personal touch and a lot of design elements. As far as I can see, she did not use a (wordpress)template.
I personally do think that the blog is a bit too "crowded". Because of the design elements the page is a bit unclear.
The last thing that might need some improvement is the color of the intotext from the portfolio, since some of the text is unreadable.
The portfolio only had 2 elements. However I did like them.
The site in general worked pretty well. However the portfolio area was a bit tricky. It might be a better idea to have
a go back button. Now the only way to go back is by clicking the portfolio button on the navigation bar agian.
Besides that, I doubt that the site will work as well on a mobile device. While inspecting
the elements, I could only see a code that adjusts the width of the page to the width of the device.
The code in general seems very clear to me. I can easily see what code is supposed to do what. At for example the home
page I see that Veerle used a charset to make sure that other symbols and signs are visible and a style sheet
named style.css. She worked a lot with classes and div elements to give every element an other "look".
Overall I give the site a 3/5 rating.
From reviewing the site I got new insights. Sometimes it is nice to see how other people did things
and sometimes that can inspire you to do other things as well.
I have been working on the lay-out of my webpage. I did not use a specific template, however
I did copy and alter some of the code from w3 schools to make the header, footer and the responsive lay-out.
I changed the colors, the font, the navigation bar and the width of the header and footer.
I did not change anything from the responsive code, because I liked the way it worked.
I adjusted the theme to my personal preference.
If you inspect my page, you can see that I used a css stylesheet to make sure that every page has the same
style.
Today I added a second piece of work to my portfolio.
You can visit my portfolio via the navigation bar, or you can click
here.
I added a "face" I made for VisCom.
Yesterday I had a meeting with my group. We came up with a concept
for the video and we divided the tasks. I will do the editing once
everything is ready. The script has to be finished in 2 weeks so we can
start filming on Sunday 3 October. I will update you on our progress.
From today there is a portfolio on my website.
You can visit my portfolio via the navigation bar, or you can
The first thing I added to my portfolio is a mural I made.
Within time I will add more things
to my portfolio.
Today I decided to work on my webdesign. I came up with the design above.
This is obviously only a sketch. I intend to use more color.
I would like to have 4 buttons to navigate to a homepage, a page were I can tell my story,
a page for my portfolio and of course a page for my blog.
At the University of Twente we have to do various assignments.
These assignments should to be completed in groups.
I am part of projectgroup QueBec.
For our video project we did not determine a subject yet.
I'll update this blog as soon as I have more information for you.
Last week I went to Gogbot. Gogbot is a festival organised by PLANETART.
Among others various designs related to multimedia, art, music and technology were displayed.
The installation I liked most was "The Chicken of Doom", because I like playing games.
When I was younger I had a slight addiction to Mario Bros. The game was very similar to that.
The main difference was that you were able to modify your game character
the way you wanted it to be. I found that very interesting, because it was
very easy to take it too far.
I would like to tell you about my first experiences here.
Monday 2 September 2019 I had my first lecture.
I was not nervous at all. I was actually very relieved that I finished
secondary school and that I could finally go to the University.
It was nice that I already knew a couple of people due to matching-day and
the kick-in that took place before. The first day was very relaxed.
The professors where just explaining what CreaTe was all about and
what we should do if we want to pass our modules. I actually liked the assignments
and I am motivated to learn new things to develop my skills.
Up till now there are only positive things to say (probably because the exams
have not started yet :))
Nevertheless I am very exited for this year and the upcoming ones at the University.
NOTE: I did not put a footer here because I did not like the way it looked over here :)
