Skateboarding had always fascinated me as a boy when the kids across the street from me in Malaysia used to do kickflips and I'd watch the board flip gracefully between their legs. I taught myself how to skateboard and YouTube was one of my best friends when it came to learning new tricks or handy pointers. I was sponsored by a company called Bamboo skateboards and this was the highpoint of my skateboarding "career". I received my fare share of bruised knees, rolled ankles, torn ligaments and swollen wrists while attempting to tame a flipping board whilst flying down sets of stairs.

The one thing that I found extremely frustrating about relying on YouTube for video tutorials were that the tutorials were nowhere near as informative or descriptive as I wanted them to be. There were very few good quality tutorials that actually broke down the trick into steps. Thus, when I had to choose a Personal Project subject (something every student following the IB curriculum will know), I decided to make detailed skateboarding video tutorials. Together with my friend Marius Bos and Basel Ahmed, who filmed me falling down stairs, I put together 15 or so video tutorials on my YouTube channel in the hopes that skaters that were as lost as I was would find the explanation they were looking for.
