I have knowledge and expertise in a specific area, but also have the ability to collaborate with experts in other fields and use the knowledge gained from these collaborations.
Once a spark has been ignited in my mind, the drive to create and design something new is fueled by this insight. Once I get inspired by the things around me or the things in my head, I can work with determination towards my goal.
During my first years at university I have learned what things I really enjoy doing, and these things include character design, 3D modelling, some creative programming and almost anything that has to do with making music. Knowing what I like is very important to me, since I tend to work very hard for the things I enjoy, and those topics also appear to be the things in which I excel.
When I was in middle school I learned how to program. During my bachelor Creative Technology at the University of Twente I further expanded my knowledge base through courses in which I learned how to use this to create interactive applications. Not only did I learn about software, but about hardware to go with it as well. This also makes me have knowledge about electrical engineering, which can come in handy when collaborating with experts in this field. I have worked with software like Processing, Unity and Autodesk Maya to bring aspects of programming, 3D modelling and (VR) hardware together to create games and interactive applications.
I've always had a creative mind, and as the years passed, I was encouraged to develop this creative way of thinking and I learned to find creative solutions and ideas for (design) problems. I generally like to spend my time thinking. I try to come up with original ideas and I prefer solutions that have character and aren't too straight forward. There's an art in creative solutions.
My background in Creative Technology has provided me with knowledge of topics like physical computing, product design, programming, VR hardware and software, game design, data visualisation, 3D modelling and animating, and a little sound engineering. This makes me able to work together with people that have experience in these areas. It will be easier to communicate with those experts, and that will speed up effective working processes.
Perpendicular to that, I have my own set of skills in which I excel, my area of expertise. My specialized area is in new media, mainly in the graphical field. And, since I'm an experienced team worker, I can help other experts by using my knowledge to come up with solutions, as well as help other experts learn new things about the knowledge I have.
I have always been a perfectionist, always precise. I keep my things ordened and make sure the details are worked out. I like to have a good overview of the project I'm working on, and I am able to take a step back, and see if everything makes sense in the bigger picture (be it an actual picture or a paper). This way I can get a better understanding of what should be changed or could use some extra attention.
