The shelfetron 3000

The shelfetron 3000. It’s the product name of the prototype that I made for Module 2. Together with a few other students I worked on the project for around ten weeks.

At the moment, a lot of bread gets thrown away in bakeries, because no one is buying it. At the end of the day the bread is not so fresh anymore and it can’t be sold anymore. We tried to solve this problem.

We came up with the idea of a Smart shelf. It measures with pressure sensors how much bread is on the shelf. Combined with the time of the day, it adapts the price of the bread. If there is still a lot of bread at the end of the day, the price gets lower. More people will buy the bread and less gets thrown away.
