My website design #2

After a few weeks of trying to build my own website, I’m happy to announce that I’m finally making progress. I’ve reached a point where I (kind of) know what I’m doing.

This is of course a happy moment, but the first problems are already arriving. The thing is: I’m not happy about my website design anymore.

I spend some time looking at websites and blogs on the World Wide Web to see what my wishes are. I found two websites in specific, that have the atmosphere that I would like to create as well. If you like to have a look, be my guest: click and click.

After the research I took my pencil again and I made some sketches about a possible design. This resulted in a page full of doodled webpages. And more important, the idea of my Perfect Website is in my mind. I know how I want it to look like.

After this peaceful moment of sketching, I walked into another problem. Do I start all over? Do I delete everything I made so far? The answer is: no. This design make-over is probably going to take some time. I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to make everything. But I’m slowing going to change the lay-out. Brick by brick we change this house.

I’ll start with changing the homepage. I will add a logo, my name, a quote/some text and a divergent navigation bar. If your mouse hovers over the navigational the different options will get a yellowish border.

When I’m happy with the homepage, I will move towards the blog-page. I want to show the date, the title and a big picture of the different blogposts that I’ve written. And of course a little “read more” button.

Then I still need to change the different blogposts, the ‘About Me’ page and my showcase portfolio. But I will start with the above two things.
