Exposition Module 1

Made by Niels Bos, November 7, 2018

Yesterday (6-11-2018), I showed my work on an exposition for the other students and their parents. I think it was a lot of fun to also see what others had come up with and how their projects worked out. Everyone did an amasing job on the interactive videos and the Visual Communication posters. I saw a lot of different consepts of videos which was really nice to see and even a bigger variety of totally different posters. It was fun to see what people had come up with in the last module and I think nobody had expected such amazing posters at the start of the lectures.

website review

Peer-review

Made by Niels Bos, October 17, 2018

This weeks assignment was to review the website of a fellow student. I reviewed the website of Leonardo Chávez Sáenz. In my opinion, he has a really good looking , practical and interesting website. He has a nice layout, personal touch, effects and content. He added a lot of possibilities to contact him or find your way over the website. In addition, JavaScript was used to display his social media link in the top right corner. It made the pictures (links) move, fade in and fade out. There are very few issues exept for the navigation bar which might be hard to find and the pages did not have a titel. Overall it is a good website!
By reviewing another website I got a lot of inspiration on how to improve my own website. I learned different ways to display your content and how to make a good looking layout.

My personal touch

Made by Niels Bos, October 03, 2018

All over my website, you can find the same theme and "personal touch". I gave every page on my website the same header and colorscheme. This clearly shows the user is still on the same website and make everything a lot more clear. I used a template for my blog page. However I changed it to the extend of it being the same style. I added another stylesheet which overruled the stylesheet of the template. Therefor it has the same colorscheme and style as my other pages. I also added an picture as header and a footer which is the same in all the pages.

New post on my Portfolio

Made by Niels Bos, October 03, 2018

Recently, I uploaded a new piece on my portfolio. Last couple of weeks, during the processing lectures we had to develop a creature and give it certain tasks to perform. I created a minigame about a dragon who is attacted with arrows. The player is in control of the dragon and should try to survive as long as possible. By using the mouse, arrow or asdw keys you are able to move the dragon. While playing you are able to see how long you have survived while the game is becoming more difficult. Click here to watch

GOGBOT festival

GOGBOT visit

Made by Niels Bos, September 19, 2018

During my GOGBOT visit, I enjoyed many different installations and one in particular. The “Godtable” stood out because of its interaction with the user and its design. The installation consisted of a big table with a screen on top of it, a motion sensor, sound and mountains around the big screen. The motion sensor caught the movements of your hand and with the movement you were able to draw on the big screen. That way you were able to design your own landscape next to the mountains. By putting your fingers together you were able to change colour and by making specific movements you were able to raise some of the mountains. I liked this installation because of its interaction with the user and its abilities with the motion sensor. At first the installation doesn’t look impressive but when the creator told all the different unexpected abilities it became much more interesting. The sound and design were also really fitting for the Godtable. When mountains were raised, a realistic sound was played which gave the feeling of a real mountain moving.

The installation I disliked and annoyed me the most was shown in the church. There were four big screens displaying anime like characters preparing to fight or showing of their capabilities. The screens were very flashing with bright colours. There was a fighting game like sound which was very loud. This installation annoyed me a lot because it was very distracting. The sound was too loud which made it hard to hear the sound of the other installations in the church. The animation was very hysterical with bright and flashing colours, this overruled the other installations. It felt like the screens were screaming for attention which made it hard to concentrate on the other installations. In addition, the animation did not seem like it served a purpose which made it hard to understand what was displayed.
