Last thursday, there was an exhibition organised at the Smart XP. At this exhibition all the first year students showed the interactive video that they made for the first module of Creative Technology. It was very nice to see what my fellow students had created. It was very fun to see how much variety there was between the videos. I think that all the videos turned out great. I hope we can create more nice projects like this in the near future.
I have written a peer review for Gytis Pankevicius. The link to his site is: https://portfolio.cr.utwente.nl/student/pankpank/. In short, his site is very nice to look at. It’s a modern site and it is very easy to use. The only downsides about it is that his portfolio is relatively short, the images on his site are not very personal and don’t have a connection to the posts. Also, there is no way to get in contact via the site. If he improves this the site would be perfect.
Reviewing this site, has made me look to my own site in a different way. I now see new things to improve on my own site like putting a contactform in it.
The wordpress template Gytis is using is very nice. I especially like the blog page where the different blogpost fade in while you are scrolling down the page. The homepage uses a parralex effect on the pages which makes sure that the images are still visable while you are scrolling down. This looks very nice in my opinion.
Today I also added a new article in my portfolio. Again this article is about my programming assignment which I have now finished. On the portfolio page you can see a screenshot of the assignment with a short desription with it. Now that I have finished this assignment, I will be starting on a new programming assignment together with an other student. We will be recreating an artwork in processing and we will also make this artwork interactive. So stay tuned for that.
To make the site a bit more personal, I have changed the background of the site. I will also attatch a picture of the background in this blogpost. I chose for this background because I think it gives the site a fresh look. Also, I chose for this background in particular becuase it reminds me about technical things and since I’m doing a technical course I found this background very suitable for the site.
Here a short update about what I’m learning at my study. Last week I have studied hard for my programming course. I find this subject a bit hard but if I put enough time and effort in it I’m sure it will be all right. For the subject visual communication we have gotten an assignment to make a poster for the upcoming end exhibition. If you make the best poster, your poster will be actually used to announce the end exhibition. I find this a really cool assignment.
On wednesday the 28th of September I have launched my portfolio on my site. On this page I will post the projects I have done in the past and that I am working on right now. So if you are curious of what I am precisely doing on my study just click the link below which will direct you to my portfolio or just click on the portfolio button in the menu.
The installation i liked most was a big ball
that was hanging from the ceiling. There were sensors hanging around the ball that detected the amount of human activity around and under the ball. The amount of activity would then influence the images that were projected on the ball. I really liked this installation for two reasons. First of all the installation was very nice to look at because it made me feel very comfortable and at peace. The second reason that I liked the installation was that a lot of people were trying to find out what the interactive part about it was. That caused that a lot of people were touching the ball or jumping in front of the ball hoping that it would influence the projections.
The installation that irritated me the most was an installation where a man was lying on a table with sensors attached to his body. The purpose of the installation was that the man was able to earn money with the energy that is body made. The reason that I did not like this installation was that there was not much happening. The only thing you could see were the statistics which also were not realistic since his body temperature, according to the installation, was 32 degrees Celsius which would mean that he would have been supercooled.
My site isn’t finished yet. Right now there is a home page and a blog, but I am planning to alter the layout of the site. Also, I will add a portfolio to this site where you will be able to see all the projects that I have done in my study and I might also add some stuff from what i do in my spare time. In the drawing below you can see a quick sketch that I made of how I would like my site to look like when it is done.
