About

Myself

Hello, I am Jelle A second year Creative Technology student at the University of Twente. I'm a big fan of brainstorming and Concept design when it comes to ideation, I also really like to work out ideas in visual ways through Solidworks or Autodesk's Maya.

Skills

What I can do for you

3D design

I have quite some experience with working in maya, both for product and game design, so I can be of help in any project that either requires high or low poly assets.

Product design

For a project in my second year I learned how to use Solidworks for product design. To see the result take a look at the "On Track" product in my portfolio.

Rapid prototyping

In the CreaTe programme you make a new project almost every module, so I'm quite experienced with quick development and efficient teamwork.

Product development

feats bikelight

In a group of 4 students we made a product with the theme “smart environments” we decided to make a bike light that lets the cyclist indicate its direction in a manner that is also visible in the dark, most traffic accidents happen at this time.

Product Design

On-Track running buddy

In a group of 5 students we made a business plan for a sustainable product, we chose to produce a product that would help visually impaired runners to run and train in a more independent way to grant them more freedom and happiness in day to day live.

Installation Art

Mizu

In a group of 7 students we made an installation for the GOGBBOT festival with the theme “Bio the new digital” the installation called “Mizu” was meant to bring more peace to the mind of the viewer by making them concentrate on an optical illusion using water and strobing lights.

Game Design

Lux: The Last Light

With one fellow student I worked on a small video game called “The Last Light”. We learned a lot about modelling, animating and programming for games in this project. I also took it upon myself to dive into adaptive music development for this project using reaper and FMod. You can see a trailer for the game here. Or you can download the game over here.

Installation Art

Wave of wisdom

For my university study program I often make installations in a group setting and resort to a more theoretical or design side of the project most times. I decided that I wanted to be a bit more hands-on in my free time so I decided to give Arduino another go. For the base and the boat I used a material called "foamboard" which I’ve seen Adam Savage use on multiple occasions, so I thought it would be fun to try it too for some prop making. Experience

Past and current projects and ventures
  • Feats - UT challenge

With the feats project the other group members and I participated in the first couple of stages of the UT challenge. We made it to the third round but we unfortunately had to drop out because of other priorities.

  • Rapid Game development

With my fellow student Lars Wintermans I worked on a small video game called “The Last Light”. We spend a lot of time on ideation but the final product was build in only around 2 weeks, for more information and a download link you can check the portfolio section.

  • Community Based Design

During the On-Track product design I did something I had never done before and that was to reach out to the actual user group and do individual interviews about their needs and ideas for a product. This was really useful and showed that only reading scientific papers is not always sufficient to design for a very specific user base.
