Programming Creature

September 25, 2017

The programming of my Claptrap Unit

During the first weeks of my programming I got the assignment to make my own creature and make it move and do other things down the line. I took it upon myself to draw one of my favourite characters in gaming, namely CL4P-TP aka. Claptrap. I first started by just trying to draw my creature, which means figuring out the pixels and the layout in order to put everything in the right proportions. After finally finishing this task I had to make it move so I made it move after my mouse using a translation. The week after I wanted to add some funnier and a bit more advanced things to my Claptrap unit. So I gave him a colour changing eye if I pressed the left mouse button. I was content with what I had done but the person next to me challenged me to add something more so I did. I made it so that when I pressed the left mouse button it wouldn't solely change the eye colour but now it also creature 4 more Claptraps around himself that also move with him. The week after that I found out that I had to make it move without using the mouse and as such let it move on it's own. So using bounces and borders I made my claptrap bounce. Right now I'm trying to make my Claptrap work properly using scale and afterwards I'll have to add classes and by then I should have an fairly complete product.
