Brainstorming

After we got some inspiration, the brainstorming started. We came up with a lot of ideas and two of those ideas we expanded on. We are doing another brainstorming session from the start and one expanding on the ideas gather during those two brainstorming sessions.

Our First Idea

For our first idea we thought of a game. It shows the user the impact of quantum supremacy by making them think they are playing against a quantum computer, while in fact they are playing against another human. Each level in the gaming phase will be designed around the theme quantum supremacy. In between levels, you are provided with types of upgrades. Because the main goal of the game is to finish the levels faster than the quantum computer, we expect people to always upgrade their speed.

After all the levels are finished we are going to reveal that they weren’t actually playing against a computer but against themselves (another human). Based on their performance, we want to show an image which represents the impact they dealt during their decision making in the game.

The main message is to show people that during the race to the first quantum computer, we could be destroying and creating many problems, without it being necessary.

In the following paragraphs we will describe the game design and others a bit more:

Level development:

  • Time travel, going through time (starting early – until now/the future)
  • Describing what kind of games in each level?….

Message reveal:

  • will be shown in a image, which will be shown based on your decisions during the games
  • maybe sound during or after the game, which helps to describe a feeling

Multiplayer game:

  • developing for multiplayer on a personal server

The Second Idea

We liked the idea of working with virtual reality or artificial reality. In our view this has the ability of adding an extra dimension to an interactive piece of digital art. Because of this, for the second idea we played around with the thought of making something in a 3D space. The viewer could then immerse themselves in this interactive space more fully. The primary thought of this space was an exhibition. A place in the style of a museum. In this space the viewer could go on a journey by finding information through interactive pictures displayed in the museum. Maybe with the possibility to venture into the picture. Otherwise we thought of taking the viewer on a journey using the three door game, where the path taken decides what information you leave the 3D space with. The journey itself was not set in stone quite yet. The journey could show time, development, technology etc., and it could change (or aim to change) the viewer’s perception, view or mindset etc.

Walk through 3D space:

(the impression of going through a space?)

museum style:

  • photos, showing impact of quantum computing paralleled to older developments
  • game, through history, showing development of ….
    • multiplayer, user-user interaction
      • board game, interactive, exercises
    • 3 door game, choose one (maze)

  • user walks through space choosing their way through choices, having the effect that every path shows different development
    • travel through: time, developments, technology
    • changes in: perception, view, mindset, etc.

As you can see, our ideas are very rough. We will be going more in depth when we have our final group of ideas.
