Our Goal

  • Data collection
  • A controllable robot
  • Room ambience
  • Have fun and play ;)

Make an installation using several technologies with a group of 8 students that evokes the feeling (makes people aware) of not having privacy among people due to external powerfull companies.

To create a installation within 10 weeks that can be exhibited at the GOGBOT festival in Enschede in September. During the project each student should have the ability to explore a field that they are interested in.

Our Method

The process of Designing and creating a full upper body animatronic (Budget $0)

Presentation

We had severl moments to present our ideas to both the module coordinator and a few of the GOGBOT team. We were very disapointed about the lack of support, and enthusiasm both parties showed. It's a robot for F**k sake, stop doubting our ability to produce results.

Prototyping

A key step in ensuring the robot works smoothly and with out disruptions. This was also a vital moment to gain feedback on the script, experience and overall look and feel.

Assembly

Myself and Jorge Davo were the main builders behind the physical robot, using 3D printed parts and metal we created a strong, lump of metal. Using bearings to create smooth and natural movment was key. We are extatic with the result.

Modelling

Using prior experience in Fusion360, we set out to model our robot before we built it, this was good practice and helped alot when building the robot. Most of the modelling was done by Jorgo Davo however certain 3D printed parts were remodelled by me, aswell as the hands, certain body detail

Electronics

The choice of how were going to move our robot was vital, due to a team members past experience with animatronics we setteled on pneumatic pistons and servos (air pistons and motor)

API

With a goal of scaring the public with how much data we can find out about them with a simple email, we got in contact with a company who provided us with an API that allowed us to scrape the web for data linked to the email.

What I learned

This module, we were given complete creative freedom. This allowed me to grow as a Creator, dare to try something new and make a working robot by the end of it. I have learned so much thanks to my team members, from metal work, welding to designing and building a robot from scratch. Additionally a key lesson from this module was planning. Early on we created a detailed bullet proof plan, this led to the robots comple
