A lot happened

10th of October 2020

Long time not seen! It is time to revive this blog:) I redesinged the entire website and I hope you like it! Under this post you can find some snippets from my old website so you can see the difference. As you can see is the color palet is a bit different but because I really like the blue-green-ish color I decided to bring back that color in the theme of this website.

Progress module 3

5th of April 2020

Today I want to give you a little update about my third module. To be honest, this module was kind of crazy due to the rise of COVID-19. Unfortunatley the university had to close and we all had to work from home. Eventhough this is not ideal, I think that the University did a great job handling the situation!

Well, if we ignore the giant thing called COVID-19 went kind of well. I learned that I really like moddeling in Maya, and to be very honest with you... I liked the results as well that I achieved by using Maya. In the beginnen we had to follow some tutorials and because of this there was not much room for personal creaticity but we have to learn the skills first right. For the end assignment I challenged myself and tried to make faces. Biggest mistake in my life! Or was it? It worked out at the end and I learned so much eventhough I put way to much work in it. Sometimes it can be very rewarding to do a bit extra! (just a secret between us but you can find my work in Maya here :) )

Ofcourse was Maya not the only thing I learned. I also learned about first order differntial equations and we had some lab sessions to learn about them. Eventhough the lab sessions did not go as planned due to COVID-19 it was still really usefull!

Stay safe!

20th of March

From this week on I will be working and studying from home due to the recent developments around COVID-19.

Stay safe and take care!

12th of December 2019

Today I went to Agri Food Tech, this is an event where all kind of technical and innovative companies show there vieuws and products that have someting to do with argricultar and innovation. This day was really helpfull for me to understand all the possibilities that we have to optimize our food production. I also went there to learn about the different ways that people connect with each other. This was a very usefull day!

It is almost the end of 2019, time flies by and eventhough it feels like this is my fisrt week at Utwente we are already in module 2! With a new module comes a new project and it is about smart enviroments. It is someting compeltely different than last modules poject where we had to make an interactive vieo. We are going to work with the Arduino and we are going to learn about the implentation of this to achieve a smart enviroment. I am looking forward to it!

end exposition module 1

5th of November 2019

It is unbelievable how fast 10 weeks go by! The 5th of November we, as first year CreaTers, had our final expo. On this expo we could showcase our work such as our posters that we made for visual communication an our pograms we made for programming. The main goal of this final expo is showing the video that we made. It was an interactive video in which the viewer could make choices that would inpact the storyline. Overall I think that the end expo was really fun, I saw a lot of great stuff!

Peer-review

15th of October 2019

To help or not to help, that is the question. Ofcourse we help other student to improve their websites and luckely I also got some help. Me and all the other students wrote a review for one or two other students. I reviewed two websites: the website of Lennart Dersen and Bas van de Weerd.

I have learned a few thing from reviewing their website that I might add to my own website. Some of the things I learned from those sites are:

How it is starting to become me

1st of October 2019

Ever tried to make a real and good looking website? No, me neither. This is the first time that I am making a website that is supposed to look good. In highschool I also had to make a website but it looked more like an eleven year old boy's school project than a real good looking website. I am trying to give this website my personal touch by programming it my self. I don't use a template and I didn't copy code from the internet. Because of this my website is not really professional yet but I think that it will look better over time because I will keep on adding suff to it. I used colors I like and I am trying to get an organized website. Still working on it! :)Under this post You will find my color theme. I really like the two colors together!

progess of my blog

16th of September 2019

My website is beginning to look more like a website and less like a school project form an eleven year old. My website is not where I want it to be because I have a bit of trouble with getting the pictures right but dispite the little struggles here and there I think that erveryting will be okay but right now it is very frustrating. (And that is okay!) Eventhough the progress in my website is not optimal, it still looks like my original design.

Gogbot visit

7th of September 2019

I visited the tech-art fesitval Gogbot!

Out of all he installation on Gogbot 2019 I really liked BEEPLE the most. Before I walked in there was a sign which said:’Beeple is Mike Winkelmann. He makes a variety of art crap across a variety of media. Some of it is ok, but a lot of it kind of blows ass. He’s working on making it suck less everyday though, so bear with him…:) ‘ After reading this sign I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I walked in I was greeted by yet another sign saying: ‘Come for the post-apocalyptic nightmares!! ’. At first I wasn’t really sure why that sign was there but after walking around for a while and seeing all kind of half Tech, half human creatures everything became much clearer. It all became clear when I looked at an animation of world leaders who were all connected to giant data-tubes. For me this installation was about the fall of mankind, everyone I saw in this installation was somehow connected to data, tech or the internet. For me it was an eye opener that there is a downside to technology. We, as humans, should be careful on how to use it because otherwise we will let technology lead us, our thoughts, our actions, our values and maybe even our minds.

I consider this installation my favorite because it is about a very resent-day subject. It is critical about the world wide web, all the information we get, and the amount that we rely on technology. I think it is important that we are aware of the influences technology has on our daily life, especially in these days where there is a lot of populism, a lot of fake news and a lot of question about the ethical side of technology.

First days

2nd of September 2019 - 3th of September 2019

After a few days of rest I was ready to overcome my first days at university. I was lucky: the fist day I only had lessons until 15:30 so the day went by pretty quikly. The second day is more challenging because I have lessons until 17:30. I am still meeting new people and I am learning to navigate through the campus but one day I will be able to find everything!

Kick-in

20th of August 2019 - 29th of August 2019

In the morning of August 20th it was time to pack everything up. After so many years I was moving out! The day after moving-day the Kick-in started and let me tell you... it was the best week of my life! I met new people, ran through the Bastille and ate so much delicious food! After the kick-in I had a few days of rest before my real University experience would begin.
