Today I went to the DDW together with my father. The theme was STRETCH which was very vague and unclear. This was my fourth
year in a row that I went to the DDW. Up until this point there hasn't been any time that was better than the very first time.
However, this time there was a very nice stand. It was form Smurfit Kappa, this is a paper manufacturing company. Annually they
have a competition with projects on paper and cardboard, and the award was actually an amazing piece of origami. There were several
works of a contestant which really spoke to my interest. As you might know, since I have done a PWS about furniture made out of cardboard.
Someone else had made the same and it was really cool to see what this other person had designed. Unfortunately, this person wasn't there
that day so I wasn't able to talk to him.
Here are several other things that where fairly cool. Such as the solar glass panels,
the cool closet with the wooden curls. Or the giant copper tree, with some nice quotes hanging form the leaves. Or the genius invention
for the broken houses in Groningen due to the oil drilling. This invention can be installed in the houses as they are now.

This was a really cool workshop, and I am very happy that I went. At the beginning I had a slight fear for the soldering iron, since I had never done it before and we didn't really get any explanation on how it worked. We had to make an amplifier which was quite hard, gladly we had a paper about how to put the pieces together. In the end, I had everything on the right place, with the right pieces connected to each other but unfortunately somehow I had made a mistake somewhere and it didn't work.

This was a fun workshop. We got to work with wood and all the machines at the mWorkshop at the DesignLab. I actually recovered some knowledge here, I already knew some things but I had forgotten them. We weren't allowed to decide for ourselves what we were going to make, but got the very cool design of a beer bottle basket. This design was chosen since we had to work with most of the machines.

I had an introduction workshop to 3D printing at designlab. Unfortunately it wasn't very interesting. I already knew everything the man told us, and perhaps even slightly more.
